Search tips

You can make more precise and/or complex search queries by using DDFs prefixes and search operators – get tips on how to make your searches better below.

A combination of search terms, e.g. Water Technical University will return records that have all words present somewhere in their data (metadata).

Use “” quotations for a precise search – for instance if you want to look up a specific title.

Use = as an OR search making it possible to combine AND / OR queries, e.g. Water=Aqua Denmark=Danmark

Use ? for truncation Water=Aqua D?nmark This search would return the same result as above.

Use prefixes to search in specific bibliographic elements e.g.: TI:university will return records that has the word “university” in the title. More Search codes

Search codes

To search for words in specific parts for the records, i.e. titel. author etc. please use the prefixes like this TI:"the diffusion of innovation" using the "" to search for a specific title.

Author AU: Searches in any author field, no matter the author role. To search for a specific author use AU:"Last name, First name".
Title TI: This returns records that have the words in the title.
Document type TY: Use document type codes for limiting your search to specific publication types like books, article etc.
Research scope/level LV: Search for popular, educational, scientific or administrative content by using the codes: pop, edu, sci or adm.
Review indicator RW: Limit your search to Peer reviewed, Other Review, No review and Undetermined documents by using the codes: pr, or, nr or und.
Language LA: Use three letter ISO standard language codes to limit your search to publications in specific languages http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php
Data provider DP: Limit your search to one or more data providers.
Year TO:
FR:
Use TO: to limit your search to publication until a specific year. FR: denotes from. Using both can be used to limit your search to specific period or year, e.g. FR:2004 TO:2004.
Record ID ID: All records in the database has an ID from the data provider with a initial data provider code, e.g. auc13434. Use the ID: prefix to get a unique record.
Keyword KW: There are no controlled keywords in DDF – but searching for keywords might return highly relevant records.
Organisation OR: Search for author affiliations.
Host publication IN: Search for host publication title e.g. title of source book or journal. Useful for search for articles from a specific journal.
Publication status PU: p=published, s=submitted, a=accepted i=in press.
Access to full text AC: Limit you search to articles that has full text access, e.g. oa=Open Access, na=No public access, ca=Campus access.
